The Athlete Guide 2019 is the best source for the most detailed explanation of all events at the Langford Triathlon and will be posted closer to the date. Below is the 2018 Guide for reference. *please note this is not the current guide for 2019*

What is the Refund/Withdrawal Policy?
All entries are non-refundable. Participants withdrawing from the race WILL NOT be issued a refund, transfer or entry deferred.
What age group will I race in on race day?
All age group athletes must compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31st of the year of the event.
What if I signed up for one distance and now want to race a different distance
If you want to move into a longer event you will also need to pay the difference in cost. If you are moving to a shorter distance, no credit will be given.
Where can I find a map of the race course?
They are available on the website and Athlete Guide.
What nutrition will be available on course?
There will be aid stations along the run courses offering: Water
Where can I park?
LOTS of parking available at the Goudy Field lot – access off Langford Parkway or City Centre Park
Parking at Langford Lake in the gravel lot off Leigh Pl
Street Parking on Glen Lake Rd & Jacklin
Why do I have to be a member of Triathlon BC or buy a one-day license?
- a. Non-Triathlon BC members for event insurance coverage an additional “Day of Race” license/ insurance fee of $15 will be charged. Please note that this fee is not for the purchase of an annual provincial membership.
In order to have the “Day of Race” license fee waived, a current and valid 2016 Tri BC must provide. Proof of membership will be required at time of race package pick-up.
I am registered with my provincial or state Triathlon organization. Do I still need to pay a race day insurance fee?
Yes. Only current members for Triathlon BC, the Alberta Triathlon Association and the Saskatchewan Triathlon Association Corporation are covered for race day insurance.
If a team member is unable to compete, can we switch team members?
Yes, please make sure to let the volunteer know at Athlete Check-In, when you entire competing team is present, who is switching in and out of the team. Please note, any replacement member will not be guaranteed their garment size (unless it is the same size as the member they are replacing).
What if my team members can’t compete due to unforeseen circumstances and I am the only one on my team?
If only one athlete remains on the team due to injury or other circumstances, that athlete can participate as an individual entry. The individual will not receive the difference in entry fee.
What if I signed up as an individual for a race but now want to do a relay instead?
Changing to a relay will be allowed up until the end of the regular registration period. You will also be required to pay the difference in fee to the relay event.
Do all team members have to be at athlete check-in at the same time?
Yes, without exception, all members of a relay team must check-in at the same time or they will not be able to participate.
How do I tag off to my Relay Teammate?
Relay team members will pass the timing chip from athlete to athlete as a baton – please note that the timing chip must be worn on your ankle. The Relay exchange will be at the team bike rack (where the relay team member must wait for their team member to arrive). The timing chip cannot be passed between teammates unless the bike is still racked. Please also note that only the Runner on the relay team will need to wear the Race Bib (race number)
What will all Relay team members receive?
Each athlete that participates in a relay will receive a garment.
Do I need a special bike?
No, but is must be road worthy bike.
Am I allowed to wear my compression gear?
Yes, This includes compression sleeves, compression socks, or compression tights.
Are snorkels allowed?
Can I wear a wetsuit?
Can I wear a skinsuits/speedsuits?
Family and Friends
Can family members and/or friends check-in for me and pick-up my race packet?
Yes and no, if you are from out of town (prior approval must be obtained) yes. No, if you are local within 30 km of race location. Please bring your photo ID and TRI BC card (if applicable) during designated check-in hours.
Will I be allowed to cross the finish line with my athlete?
Friends and/or family members are more than welcome to cross the finish line with their athlete but must not interfering with other finishers and ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers and fans. Athletes who choose not to respect the policy will receive an automatic disqualification (DQ).
Will I be allowed into the finish line area to greet my athlete?
Unfortunately, due to high congestion in the finish line area, no spectators will be allowed. Please do not try to gain access to this area, as it must remain clear for the safety of the athletes
